Professional Protocol

The official NOVELLISS professional cosmetic protocol for permanent smoothing and hair botox in-salon services. For professional use only.

Before any service: the mandatory diagnosis

Observe the hair. Fine, normal or thick; condition (healthy, sensitised, damaged, split ends); chemical history (colouring, balayage, highlights, bleaching, henna, perm, relaxer).

Ask. Date of the last technical service; daily use of straightener, blow dryer or flat iron; presence of brittle or highly sensitised areas.

Choose the service. NOVELLISS Smoothing smooths, disciplines and removes volume and frizz in an 11-step routine. NOVELLISS Hair Botox repairs, plumps, adds shine and gives light-to-medium discipline without full straightening, in 7 steps.

Client safety requirements

  • Professional consultation, strand test, and a skin sensitivity test 24 hours before the service
  • Do not proceed if the hair is severely over-processed, breaking or melting when wet, extremely fragile, recently bleached without recovery, or if the scalp shows irritation or a rash
  • Work in a well-ventilated area, with gloves, avoiding inhalation and scalp contact. In case of eye contact rinse immediately with water
  • Hair health always overrides aesthetic goals

A. The smoothing protocol, 11 steps

  1. Deep cleansing. Wash three times with NOVELLISS Pre-Treatment Shampoo pH 8.0. On the third wash leave on for 10 minutes to raise the pH, open the cuticle and remove residue. Rinse until the water runs clear.
  2. Drying. Dry completely with a hair dryer and a non-ceramic flat brush. Hair must be dry, detangled and knot-free.
  3. Application. Pour NOVELLISS Restorative Smoothing into a non-metallic bowl. Apply strand by strand, 1 cm from the scalp, never touching the scalp. Even saturation, no dripping. Stop if irritation or a rash appears.
  4. Processing. Blonde or very damaged: 30 to 60 minutes. Coloured: 60 minutes. Natural, very curly or thick: 90 minutes. Check the ends after 30 minutes and add 10 to 20 g if they are dry. A shower cap or gentle heat improves absorption.
  5. Lather and rinse. Emulsify with cold or lukewarm water for 10 seconds, lather for 30 seconds until the foam turns white, detangle with a wide-tooth then a fine-tooth comb, leave the lather 5 to 10 minutes, rinse. Slight residue is acceptable on coarse hair.
  6. Dry before ironing. 100% dry with a dryer and a flat brush.
  7. Flat iron. Kovatech Turbo Liss Pro Titanium, 0.5 cm sections. Blonde or chemically treated: 130 to 170 °C, 6 to 8 passes. Coloured: 180 to 210 °C, 8 to 10 passes. Natural or coarse: 220 to 230 °C standard, up to 240 to 250 °C on resistant natural hair, 10 to 12 passes. Always test a strand first.
  8. Cooling. Cool setting, then let it sit for 10 minutes.
  9. Rinse. Lukewarm water, then NOVELLISS Therapy Shampoo. Rinse thoroughly, no residue.
  10. Therapy Mask. Apply generously to towel-dried hair, comb through, 10 minutes under gentle heat, rinse thoroughly.
  11. Therapy Serum. 1 to 3 drops depending on length, then style. Recommend the NOVELLISS home care kit for long-lasting results.

B. The hair botox treatment, 7 steps

  1. Cleansing. Three washes with NOVELLISS Pre-Treatment Shampoo pH 8.0, 10-minute pause on the third, rinse until clear.
  2. Application. Non-metal bowl, 1 cm from the scalp, even saturation.
  3. Processing. Blonde or sensitised: 20 minutes. Coloured: 30 minutes. Natural or curly: 45 minutes. Add product to dry ends if needed, use a cap or heat.
  4. Emulsify and rinse. 10 seconds, lather 30 seconds, detangle, leave the foam 5 to 10 minutes, rinse until completely free of residue.
  5. Dry. 100% with a paddle brush.
  6. Flat iron sealing. The goal is to seal the care, not to straighten. Blonde or sensitised: 130 to 150 °C, 2 to 4 passes. Coloured: 170 to 190 °C, 4 to 6 passes. Natural or thick: 190 to 210 °C (max 220), 6 to 8 passes.
  7. Finish. Therapy Shampoo, rinse, towel dry. Therapy Mask 5 to 10 minutes, rinse. A second light veil of mask on very dry hair. Therapy Serum on wet hair, then style.

Temperature philosophy

  • Fine hair: 120 to 170 °C
  • Normal hair: 150 to 190 °C
  • Thick or resistant hair: 180 to 230 °C
  • 240 to 250 °C reserved for trained professionals on resistant natural hair
  • Recommended passes: blondes 6 to 8, coloured 8 to 10, natural and curly 10 to 12
  • Botox: moderate temperatures, fewer passes, care over straightening

This protocol is intended exclusively for trained and licensed hair professionals. NOVELLISS services are cosmetic hair treatments, not medical procedures. Temperatures above 230 °C are reserved for natural resistant hair, experienced professionals and verified strand testing; improper heat use may cause irreversible damage. Results vary with hair structure, history, maintenance and environment.
